About Us: |
Tom Oerman has been a professional balloon pilot since 1971. In his first competition at the '71 National Championships, he won the Hare & hound event for a 2nd place finish overall. His first corporate account for Thermogas (a Midwest distributor of propane) promoted a record attempt contest for their customers. Tom flew for dealerships Open houses and competed with this balloon in the '73 Nationals. Again, he finished 2nd overall, missing first by a small margin. On November 28, 1973 he flew the Thermogas balloon for a world record; 9 hours, 32 minutes. To land before sunset, he launched two hours before sunrise and was unaware the flight caused Flying Saucer reports all over Des Moines, Iowa! Tom continued to excell at competition, being the only pilot to qualify for the U.S. team for the 1st and 2nd World Championships in '73 and '75. Tom continued selling corporate ad and PR programs and often flew these balloons in major races and movies. Passengers then were newspaper, radio and TV reporters. Today, Tom offers passenger flights over beautiful Hunterdon County from a state licensed BalloonPort at the Clinton Elks, two miles from Clinton, NJ. We welcome you share a magnificent ballooning adventure over the lovely hills and valleys of Hunterdon County with one of the most experienced pilots in the country.
