Festival Description:
The Great Reno Balloon Race is one of the most colorful and spectacular events in Northern Nevada. This event is set on the pleasant rolling pasture of Rancho San Rafael Regional Park, a gem of open space only a few miles north of downtown's glittering casino action. A comprehensive selection of food, crafts, art and souvenirs await spectators, along with wonderfully uplifting music to compliment this celebration of flight.
Dawn Patrol, a trademark of The Great Reno Balloon Race is worth the early rise. The show features a handful of balloonists who are qualified to fly in the dark. Balloonists glow, twinkle and fly along with choreographed music and crowd participation. Saturday and Sunday only.
The early morning hour acts much like a good cup of coffee without the side effect, while the air briskly releases hints of fall. Looking around you see acres of fabric bellowing, gently introducing panels of vibrant color into the landscape. As hot air encompasses the material, the liftoff begins and your spirits ascend with the hot-air balloons as they take flight. |
